Urban Camo

Yvonne Bayer – Communication Designer

Yvonne was born in 1983 in Ulm, Germany. She lives and works in Cologne, Germany, her education is that she has is a Diploma in communication design (same as a masters degree). Also she has an education at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design/ Staatliche Hochshule Fur Gestaltung Karlsruhe. In 2003- 2010 she took studies of communication Design and product design at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design/ Staatliche Hochule Fur Gestaltung Karlsruhe.

She worked as an Intern to get some professional experience. Most recently she worked at Freelance work for non-design/ Cologne, she then worked for a camp/ workshop for urban camouflage: “Pottfiction Summer Camp”. She worked in 2009 as an Intern at an “Eat sleep work/play” In London. She has done many different work experience options but they all relate back to the same thing, which is Arts and Design, therefore, those are just a few different internships and work places she has done/ worked for.

In my images I have used my brother, he hid in a pile of towels, under a sheet in his bed with a pillow on top to make him blend in even more to the bed, and for my last one he hid in our couch covered in pillows on the sides and a blanket over his head and the couch cushion on top of his legs so he would look like a couch.

Yvonne Bayer inspired my pictures because she was very original and thought of some things that I wouldn’t have thought of. I really like her kind of photography and the different styles that she does. I think she is a very talented lady and I am glad I got to look at some work that she has done.

These pictures that she has taken are a great way of showing details of something. I thought she was a real inspiration to my work because she got my mind turning so I could think of some different ways of showing my skills for this urban camouflage project.

My Examples:

I chose these three images because I liked the different things she used to cover the people that she used. My favourite one out of these three is the Ikea bag one it is really colourful and cool how the person looks like they are a pile of bags.
